What can I do to boost my immune system?

The human body is made up of trillions and trillions of cells. Each cell works together to create organs and tissues that fulfill specific functions. One cell is replaced by another when it dies. Hormones, which are chemical signals that allow cells to communicate with one another, enable them to do so. All bodily processes are controlled by hormones, including metabolism and immunity.

Hormones refer to chemicals produced throughout the body by glands. They travel through bloodstreams and act as messengers that control the function of our bodies. Some hormones are produced within the body while others are externally manufactured.

Hormone production occurs when hormone-producing cells release their contents into your bloodstream. Once hormones have been released, they travel through the body until reaching their target organ. Some hormones may only remain active for a limited time. Others hormones remain active longer and still have an influence on the body's functioning long after they leave bloodstream.

Some hormones can be produced in large amounts. Others are made in small quantities.

Certain hormones can only be produced at specific times in life. For instance, estrogen is produced during puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and old age. Estrogen is important for women to develop breasts and maintain bone density. It also helps prevent osteoporosis. It also promotes hair growth and keeps skin smooth and soft.
